Hey y’all!
I’m super excited to announce my newest publication, Pretty Orange Peeler (POP!) Zine! This will be a place where I print my current poems, works-in-progress, mini rants, and art by beloved creative friends! Here’s an excerpt of the manifesto for more info:
POP!, or Pretty Orange Peeler, is a (probably) quarterly zine inspired by my teenage passion for poetry zine-making and art in all of its offbeat forms. The title comes from my favorite song, “Orange Peeler” by Horse Jumper of Love (please, please look them up; I highly recommend).
In the spirit of that song, its dynamic structure and beauty and joy, I want POP! to reflect the things that I love: art, weird art, my community, and little joys…in short, anything that makes you hold life tender.
While I don’t intend for this to be a purely ‘positive’ zine—life is complicated, especially when you’re queer, AFAB, neurodivergent, etc— think of POP! as a place where I share what matters to me in this moment. That may come in the form of a mini life update, some poetry I’m working on, submissions from my lovely creative friends(!), or a ‘slice’ of enthusiasm for a topic that’s been on my mind lately.
Since high school, I’ve loved making my own poetry collections (armed with my parents’ printer and a dream), so it’s really exciting to be getting back into the game! Stay tuned for more information about releases and submission calls. For now, I can tell you that the first issue is printed and nearly ready to go! Check out some coooool sneak peeks below:
