Jenny J

A Massachusetts native, indie pop musician Jenny J uses her melodic yet edged sound to wrestle with complicated feelings surrounding self-love and expectations towards women. She played drums in local bands for about six years before volunteering at a music camp geared towards empowering young girls (Girls Rock Campaign Boston), helping the campers find their voices while she, in turn, found her own. Since then, she has recorded at Q Division and Colonial Sound, performing live during a benefit show at the Paradise Rock Club. Her first single, Peachy, was released in March of 2019, with her breakout album Glitter Glue following shortly after in May.

Artist Notes

This was my very first experience with crafting, recording, and releasing an album! It was such a formative experience to have as a musician, and in high school, no less. Thanks to Owen Curtin for his help producing, Vaughan Supple for guitar, and Willow Robichaud for guitar and bass.

In this album, you’ll hear my early leaning towards more angsty, grunge-infused work (especially on the title track, Glitter Glue) and my passion for harmonies. It took me a few more years, however, to develop the confidence and breath control to allow me to belt, scream, and shout, as I so dearly love to do with my current band, Girls on Toast!
