Last month, I was honored to perform at the very first reading of DuPont Underground’s Read the Room series, which highlights emerging and established poets in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area!
Thank you all for making it such a fantastic, SOLD OUT(!) show! It’s been a while since I did a reading, so shout out to American Poetry Museum’s If All the Trees open mics for building me up with their fantastic community (special shoutout to Sasa Aakil for organizing), and all of my lovely friends for attending. It was thrilling to see how my work taking up space as a vocalist also informed my poetic reading style. I was able to add so much more intensity and personality to my performance in a way that I really loved!
Check out the other poets I shared the stage with, Brandon Blue, Ángel Lagunas, and Dahlia Aguilar, on Instagram. Also be sure to check out the rest of the series running every month at Dupont Underground. Stay tuned for more readings as the weather warms!
